Vocal Masterclass

13th to 15th June 2019 - GOA UNIVERSITY

3 Days Vocal Workshop for Amateur and Professional singers, Soloists, Choir Singers

Vocal Workshop with the distinguished soloists Ms Maria Forsström and Ms Lena Moén, both world known singers and choir pedagogues from Sweden. Maria Forsström is a distinguished vocal coach, and is also one of Sweden's most sought after choir pedagogues, with really amazing results. Lena Moén is a choir conductor and also performs regularly with professional ensemble around Europe.

Each Registered Student will get:

  • 2 (two) 60´ minutes small group sessions (up to 4 singers)

Includes individual Masterclass during the session.

  • 2 (two) 90´ minutes singing technic group session
  • Free access to attend the other student’s individual sessions (total 11 hours)

Place: Goa University Campus - Administrative Building / Conference Hall

Registration fee: 1.500 INR / 500 INR for GU CHOIR members

Seats: up to 14 Active Participants

*Registered students will prepare 1 (or 2) pieces to work with the teachers.

*Total Masterclass duration: 11 hours.

About the coaches

Maria Forsström -  www.mariaforsstrom.se

Maria Forsström, though being Swedish by age-old ancestry, is an Anglophile with an Italian heart, holding a deep love for the German Romantic poets and Russian melody. She holds a strong interest for neurobiology, related to the perception and learning processes within languages and music. Maria graduated first as a church musician and choir conductor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Early Music Studies followed at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she also focused on Baroque and Classical ornamentation, completing her studies with orchestra conducting at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg. Maria has performed with among others the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia,Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, La Chambre Philharmonique, the Warsaw Philharmony Orchestra, the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra NOSPR, the Wroclaw Symphony Orchestra NFM, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, the Odense Symphony Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki National Opera Orchestra, and Musica Aeterna, Perm, Russia, performing on opera stages in Europe, Russia and Japan.

Lena Moén

Lena Moén, soprano, got her education as singer, coach and organist from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and at Trondelag Music Conservatory in Trondheim, Norway. Her repertoire spans from various opera parts (The Magic Flute, Marriage of Figaro, La Bohéme etc) to the soprano part in all the standard major sacred works. Having her current base in the parish of Ostersund, Sweden, where she leads several choirs, Lena is also a sough-after vocal coach and concert singer. She has got her vocal training from coaches like Catarina Ligendza, Susanna Riccaci and Berit Lindholm, and she has also done several masterclasses with pianist Matti Hirvonen and Dorothy Irving. She has participated several times in the Scandinavian Bach Academy, and in 2006 she was one of the performers at the Kirsten Flagstad anniversary in Hamar, Norway. Lena frequently works with various orchestras such as the Swedish Baroque Orchestra, the Tallin Baroque, the Nordic Chamber Orchestra and Nordland's Baroque Orchestra, Norway.
