(1) INTRODUCTION TO MUSIC CONDUCTION; (2) ADVANCED CONDUCTING COURSE

  • Students will received an Official Certificate for their attendance.

Organized by the GUIMA - GOA UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL MUSIC ACADEMY - Western Music Chair Goa University, this course will offer lead choral and orchestra training sessions. Students will attend individual and groups sessions with the Maestros. In these two levels the course will give the students the experience of different aspects of Choral and Orchestra Conducting Techniques, Repertoire, Leadership and Conducting Theory. 

The course is open to conductors, music teachers and students, musicians, singers and music lovers. Selected students will conduct a piece on the closing Gala Concert.

Our visiting professor, Maestro Alonso, is a fully qualified tutor with many years’ experience in teaching conducting and choir training skills at the Creteil Conservatory of Paris, France, and conductor of the Sorbonne University Choir.

Tutoring and mentoring is available for Conductors and Music Leaders at 2 levels (1. Beginners and 2. Advanced), covering every aspect of choral and orchestra conducting and practice, including:

The registration fees for our courses are partially sponsored and students can apply for scholarship.

INVITED CONDUCTOR 

MTRO ARIEL ALONSO

In Argentina, his home country, Ariel Alonso obtains his diplomas of Piano (Gold Medal) and Conduction at the Handbook of Falla Conservatory of Buenos Aires. In France, he obtained the Higher Diploma of Orchestra Conduction with Dominique Rouits at the Ecole Normale de Musique of Paris Alfred Cortot. In 1998, he became the holder of the Certificate of Aptitude for the professorship of choral singing, direction of vocal ensembles. He then completed his training in choral conducting masterclasses with Helmut Rilling (International Bach Academy, Buenos Aires), Eric Ericson (Paris City of Music), Patrick Marco, Laurence Equilbey (National Conservatory of Paris Region), conducting with Pierre Cao and vocal with Marie-Claire Cottin.

In addition, he is the musical conductor of the Limours Choir (Essonne) since 1989, from the choir of the Little Singers of Saint-Louis of Paris, with which he carries out many rounds of concerts around the world (from 1991 to 2005) and His Chamber Choir Mixes (since 1992). He also conducts the children's orchestra and choir at the Conservatoire de Neuilly (Hauts de Seine).

The diversity of choral compositions he conducts leads to a wide repertoire ranging from large choir and orchestra (Haendel's Israel in Egypt, Mass in a flat Major Schubert, Rossini's Stabat Mater, Great Mass in Mozart) to works for children's choir (Haendel 's Dixit Dominus, Vivaldi' s Beatus Vir, Stravinsky 's Mass, Britten' s Ceremony of Carols) and for chamber choir (Mendelssohn 's Motets op.69, Frank Martin' s double choir, Seven Songs of Poulenc).

As a pedagogue, Ariel Alonso is often asked to lead choral and choral classes and masterclasses by the Paris Polyphonic Art Center, the Choral Chanting Mission of the National Conservatory of Aubervilliers, and the European Institute of Choral Singing. On these occasions, he is also called a specialist in the South American repertoire. He is guest conductor for the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 internship sessions of the Argentina Association of Chefs de Chœur (ADICORA).

He is musical director of the Mélanges choir and women's choir Ariadna, and artistic director of the Épinay-sous-Sénart Festival Voix du monde. Mtro Alonso is Professor of Choir Conducting at the Paris-Creteil Regional Conservatory and the Gustave Charpentier Conservatoire in Paris. In November 2016 he was appointed Music Director of the Argentine National Polyphonic Choir.

Ariel has been conducting the Sorbonne University Choir since September 2011.

RESIDENCY CONDUCTOR

MAESTRO DR SANTIAGO LUSARDI GIRELLI

Born in Buenos Aires in 1979, Santiago is an Argentinian-Italian Music Conductor, Philosopher and Scholar of the philosophical traditions of the East and West. Dr. Lusardi Girelli has worked as lecturer, choir and orchestra conductor and composer in more than 20 countries in Europe, South America, Africa and Asia for the last 20 years. He holds Master degrees in Orchestra and Choir Conduction and Philosophy, and a PhD in Aesthetics and Philosophy. As the result more than ten years of research on Indian Philosophy he has published his Thesis on Buddhist Phenomenology and Hindu Ritualism and its links with Western Music & Arts Tradition. Santiago has conducted choirs and orchestras, professional and amateurs, around the world throughout more than 300 concerts, and leaded music tours in several countries, from the Amazonas Rain Forest to Leipzig-Germany (J.S. Bach´s city); and from Peruvian Machu Pichu to the Indian Himalayas. His enthusiasm, leadership and passion for music, philosophy and cultures have led him to accomplish several important achievements and recognitions that have earned him the esteem of the local and international press alike. 

​        Furthermore, Santiago has been involved in a wide range of music educational cooperation projects around the globe as researcher, music director and educator, as the worldwide known EL SISTEMA in Latin America for more 5 years; and as composer and researcher he has released dozens of original compositions of choral and orchestra music, combining ancient music traditions with contemporary composing techniques. He has published articles and essays on philosophy, music and theology as well. As Music director and composer he released more than 30 album productions, and conducted hundreds of symphonic, choral, opera and musical concerts.

   Currently located in Spain and India, Dr. Santiago Lusardi Girelli holds the Anthony Gonsalves Chair as Visiting Research Professor at the Goa University in India, working as lecturing professor and conductor of the Goa University Choir -the very first University choir of India-, he also collaborates as Lecturer, Composer and Guest Conductor with different Universities and professional orchestras and choirs from South America, Africa, Europe and India.
